Jay Mestel, the co-owner and vice president of a West Hartford dental practice was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months in prison and ordered to repay more than $340,000 he fraudulently diverted from the practice.
Jay Mestel pleaded guilty
Dr. Mestel, 43, of Weatogue, who pleaded guilty to mail fraud in September, told U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton that he has already made restitution to West Hartford Family Dentistry, federal officials said.
Arterton ordered Mestel to surrender to the U.S. Marshal on June 11. She also sentenced him to two years of supervised release and a $25,000 fine and ordered him to file amended income tax returns.
