RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. — A woman is facing felony charges of theft and corrupt business influence after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an orthodontics company in southeastern Indiana.
Indiana State Police announced the arrest of 61-year-old Jennifer Fullenkamp of Batesville following an investigation that began in August 2023.
The investigation was launched when detectives were contacted by Scheele Orthodontics and told that a significant number of payments from patients were “missing and unaccounted for,” according to ISP.
ISP’s investigation found that Fullenkamp allegedly stole thousands of dollars from her employer over several years. Fullenkamp allegedly achieved this by urging patients to provide cash payments for services. In exchange, Fullenkamp allegedly told the patients they would receive a discount if they paid with cash.
Fullenkamp is accused of pocketing this cash. She managed to prevent the practice from finding these missed payments for a brief period by altering the computer records, ISP said.
Following the conclusion of ISP’s investigation, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Fullenkamp on charges of theft and corrupt business influence. Both are level 5 felonies.
Fullenkamp was subsequently arrested on Aug. 23 and transported to the Ripley County Jail. According to online court records, Fullenkamp is set to appear in a jury trial on Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. in Ripley Circuit Court.
